Green Turtle Cay is very informal and most cottages have washer and dryers, so you don’t need to pack all that much Restaurants require shirts and shoes, but besides your bathing suit you’ll only need shorts, t-shirts, a windbreaker for boating or our occasional shower, sundress beach shoes, a hat and cover-up for the sun, and a light sweater in the cooler months. Don’t forget the sunblock and bug spray!
Three well stocked stores can be found in New Plymouth, the settlement on Green Turtle Cay. Local cuisine can be sampled at several native restaurants in town, easily accessible by either golf cart of boat. Fancier palates can be satisfied at two nearby clubs.

Green Turtle Cay is one of many barrier islands in the Abaco region of the Bahamas. It’s also the most northern cay as well as the most populated one in the area, with a permanent population of about 450. The village of New Plymouth, the island’s main settlement, is located on the southern tip of the island and approximately 3 1/2 miles from Cocobay Cottages. Founded in 1770 by loyalists, it boasts quite an interesting history! You can learn all about it at our two museums located at the center of the village.
